Twenty-nine students competed in Round 2 of the Continental Math League Calculus Contest on Tuesday, January 24. The contest was sponsored by Mu Alpha Theta and the Math Department. It simulated a mini-AP Calculus AB Examination, consisting of six multiple-choice and two free response problems to be worked in 40 minutes with a calculator.
The contest stipulates that each school’s score is the sum of the top six individual scores. Ben Collier and Will Seidel tied for 1st place, each making a perfect score. Maggie O’Connor and Jacob Villarreal tied for 3rd place, and Ryan Maso, Megan Metry, Sam Schuldenberg and Abi Sivatharman tied for 5th place. Next week on Tuesday and Thursday immediately after school in the Library, all math students are invited to participate in the next rounds of the National Catholic League Adv. Math Contest and the Texas Math League Contest.
